The past perfect tense is used to describe actions that were completed before another action or time in the past. It helps clarify the sequence of events.

Composition:
Affirmation: subject + was + past participle
Negative: Subject + wasn’t + past participle
Interrogative: was + subject + past participle?
Examples:
Affirmation:

I finished my homework before dinner.
When I arrived she was gone.
He had seen the film before.
Cons:

I hadn’t finished my homework when dinner started.
He had not visited Paris before his trip last year.
We hadn’t seen that movie until last night.
Inquiry:

Did you finish your homework before dinner?
Was she gone when you got there?
Have they seen that movie before?
